Circuit Training Programs: A Functional Approach

I have been designing circuit training programs for years. I have a ton of them. Circuit training is a great way to get amazing results quickly. It is hard work but it is worth it. I use these training programs for the majority of my bootcamp programs. The results have been outstanding.

When I design a circuit training program I try to mix a variety of training tools and stimuli. These circuits work great for anyone, provided they are healthy and don't have any orthopedic problems.

This type of high intensity training is also great for weight/fat loss and developing athleticism. Circuit training can and should be highly functional so that the training transfers to many aspects of life and sport.

The following is an example of a circuit training program designed to develop power-endurance, strength-endurance and agility. It uses uses some of my favorite equipment: a kettlebell, a sandbag, agility rings and rubber bands.

Try each station for 30 seconds followed by a 30 second rest for starters. You can increase the work time and decrease the rest time as you improve. Try three to five passes of the circuit, take a rest between each pass. Have fun.
